My next ask? A video of my dog watching this video of himself watching a video.

So for my creative project this week I decided to do something a little different and teach myself a magic trick.  Well, I don’t know if you could call it “magic” actually, but it is a trick.  I learned how to fold money so that it looks like the portrait on the bill is smiling and frowning.  I learned how to do it from a fun YouTube video called ‘Top 10 quirky science tricks for parties.’  Check out my rendition in the video below.

This first video is my pick ‘o the week.  This little kid gives a sweet inspirational speech after learning to ride a bike.  I wrote a post about the video earlier this week, which you can click here to read.  ”Thumbs up for Rock ‘n Roll!”  Watch the video below and then check out more after the jump.

Here’s a video that I featured on my Friday Morning Laughs post on SocialTimes yesterday morning.  Meet the SH’Boss Boys.  These kids are 5, 6 and 7 years old and they rock!  They were listening to the wadio one day and started wapping…adorable!

The little inspirational bike rider said “Thumbs up for Rock ‘n Roll!”  Here’s a little kid that wants a high five for his first kiss!  How old is this kid anyway?  He’s a little hustler!

I had a bag of red lentils and some veggies so I got to work.  The result was a delicious vegetarian Red Lentil & Spinach Soup.  Sound good?  Check out the recipe and make it yourself!

Ingredients:

(Measurements are approximate)

1 cup red lentils
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
2 tomatoes, diced
1 carrot, peeled and cut into small pieces
3/4 cup cooked spinach (I used the frozen kind)
Salt
Pepper
Cumin
Paprika

Put the lentils, potatoes and carrots in a pot with enough water to cover it all (don’t add too much water at the beginning–we’ll add more later to get the consistency you want).  Bring to a boil.

Once you notice that the lentils are start getting softer, add the spinach, tomatoes and spices to taste.  Add PLENTY of cumin (mmm…).  At this point you might want to add some more water if the soup is getting really thick.  Then, simmer on a low heat until it’s all nice ‘n soupy looking and the potatoes, carrots and lentils are all thoroughly cooked.

Then…eat it!

On Thursday night I headed to Rothchild Blvd. in Tel Aviv to check out the Annual Purim Zombie walk.  There were all sorts of creative costumes there, including a group of friends dressed as Angry Birds and, of course, tons of Zombies.  You can view all my Purim Pictures in my Purim 2011 set on Flickr.

The Zombie Walk was fun, but definitely one of my coolest Purim experiences this year (and maybe one of my coolest experiences of all time) was the Purim Parade at the Bialik-Rogozin School in Tel Aviv (the school featured in the Academy Award-winning short documentary, ‘Strangers No More’).  The Bialik-Rogozin school is one of the most diverse schools in Israel, attended by the children of many immigrant workers.  It was amazing to see all these kids together, walking through the streets in some of the most adorable costumes you’ve ever seen.  I put some of my pictures together into an Animoto slideshow, which you can view below.  You can also check out all the pictures in my Purim Parade 2011 set on Flickr.

Finally, I decided to get creative at the last minute with my Purim Costume.  I didn’t have anything in mind, but on Thursday night at the Zombie walk I found some really fun glasses for 10NIS at a kiosk.  They were the perfect Waldo glasses, so I decided to be Where’s Waldo.  I couldn’t find a great Waldo hat so I bought a white beanie and some red yarn and got to work.  I made a big red pom pom for the top of the hat and knitted a red stripe for the bottom.  I’m pretty pleased with the way it turned out.  I also learned that Waldo is popular amongst kids all over the world, but he isn’t always called Waldo!  Here in Israel he’s called ‘Eifo Efie’ (as I heard many people shout out to me on the streets), in France he’s called Charlie, and he’s also called Wally, Walter, Hetti, Hugo and Valli in different parts of the world.
